Prevent tightness while you work
- Make the foundation chain with a relaxed hand; it is often the tightest part.
- Use a hook 1–2 mm larger than the ordinary size for the yarn.
- Do not crowd the loops close to the hook head; let them move along the shaft.
- Put the work down regularly and check that the sides remain the same length.
Block and finish the edges
Lightly dampen the finished swatch according to the yarn’s care instructions, shape it on a towel and let it dry flat. A simple border of ordinary crochet stitches can then add a little weight and structure. Always test the method on the swatch first.
